2-7 Jumper Settings
Explanation of
Jumpers
To modify the operation of the
motherboard, jumpers can be
u s e d t o c h o o s e b e t w e e n
o p t i o n a l s e t t i n g s . J u m p e r s
create shorts between two pins
to change the function of the
connector. Pin 1 is identified
w i t h a s q u a r e s o l d e r p a d o n
the printed circuit board. See
the motherboard layout pages
for jumper locations. Note: On
t w o p i n j u m p e r s , " c l o s e d "
m e a n s t h e j u m p e r i s o n a n d
"open" means the jumper is off
the pins.

2-6 DIP Switch Settings
DIP Switch 1:
Core/Bus Ratio
A red "DIP" switch labeled SW1 is
located on the 370DE6/370DER/
/370DEI. SW1 has four
i n d i v i d u a l s w i t c h e s , w h i c h a r e
used to set the core/bus ratio.
The example on the right will show
you which CPU Core/Bus Ratio to
use. The general rule is to divide
the CPU speed by the bus speed.
If you have a 550 MHz CPU, divid-
ing it by a 100 Mhz front side bus
will give you a CPU Core/BUS Ra-
tio of 5.5. After determining the
CPU Core/Bus Ratio, refer to Table
2-22 for the correct settings of DIP
Switch 1.
Note:
Most Intel processors have
a fixed Core/Bus ratio that will
overwrite the setting of DIP Switch
1.
