5-4 Installing the Processor and Heatsink
Caution:
Avoid placing direct pressure to the top of the processor package. Always
remove the power cord fi rst before adding, removing or changing any hardware
components.
Notes:
•
Always connect the power cord last and always remove it before adding, re-
moving or changing any hardware components. Make sure that you install the
processor into the CPU socket before you install the CPU heatsink.
•
If you buy a CPU separately, make sure that you use an Intel-certifi ed multi-
directional heatsink only.
•
Make sure to install the motherboard into the chassis before you install the
CPU heatsinks.
•
When receiving a motherboard without a processor pre-installed, make sure that
the plastic CPU socket cap is in place and none of the socket pins are bent;
otherwise, contact your retailer immediately.
•

Installing an LGA1150 Processor
1. Gently press down the load plate
handle and push it outward (to the
right side) to unlock it.
2. Once the load plate handle is
unlocked, gently lift the handle to
open the load plate.
