Chapter 6: Advanced Chassis Setup
6-3
6-3 Drive Installation and Removal
Hard disk drives can be installed or replaced without accessing the inside of the
chassis.
Note:
Your operating system must include RAID support to enable the
hot-swap capability of the drives.
Drive Installation
The hard disk drives are mounted in drive carriers to simplify their installation and
removal from the chassis. These carriers also help promote proper airflow for the
system. For this reason, even empty carriers should remain in the chassis.
Removing Drives
1. To remove a carrier, push the release button located beside the drive LEDs.
2. Swing the handle fully out and use it to pull the unit straight out.
