Installation Guidelines of Operating System
This manual includes the following operating systems: Windows 2008 Enterprise Server R2 sp1,
Red Hat Enterprise Linux6 update 5.
4.1 Windows 2008 Enterprise Server R2 sp1 (64 bit)
4.1.1
Installation Preparation
Import onboard SAS driver or RAID card driver (server configuration including RAID card) to
USB flash disk, which are required when installing Windows Server 2008. You can find them
on accompanying Navigation Software CD.
It’s recommended to export relevant drivers from Sugon Server Smart Navigation CD, which
includes SAS or RAID card drivers of mainstream systems, saving much time on searching
drivers.
4.1.2
Installation Procedure
Step 1: Startup; put the disk marked with "Microsoft Windows 2008 Server" into CD-ROM and
startup from CD.
Step 2: Select installation language, time and keyboard layout, and click "Next".
Step 3: Click "Install now" to start the installation.
Step 4: Select 2008 server version to be installed (this manual takes Windows Server 2008
Enterprise as example), then click "Next".
Step 5: Select "Custom" mode in the shown interface to start the installation.
Step 6: You need to select "Load Driver" to load corresponding SAS or RAID card drivers, then
hard disks can be identified and configured.
Step 7: After configuration, click "Next"; the installation process begins.
Step 8: The system will restart automatically during installation, please patiently wait for several
quarters; user will be asked to configure password after installation.
Note:
Windows 2008 password should have English letters, numbers and symbols.
Step 10: Now, users can normally use Windows 2008 Server operating system.
Note:
Users may
need to load drivers of some external cards by themselves.
4.2 Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 Update 5 (64 bit)
