61.
Follow the Landing Gear Detail on the plan, and install the included plastic wheels. Retain
the wheels by bending the ends of the wire up 90 degrees and trimming off the excess. Fit
the landing gear into the landing gear pocket on the bottom of the fuselage. Retain the
landing gear by inserting ply part F27 into the slot. Wick thin CA around F27 and the points
where the landing gear enter the slot.
62.
Fit the painted landing gear struts into the slots in F25 and F26. Re-check the alignment of
the struts, and final bond to the fuselage with medium CA.
Do not bond the struts to the
wire landing gear.
The gear must remain free to flex and absorb the shock of rough
landings.
63.
Fit and bond the ply tail skid “TS” to the slot in the rear portion of the bottom of the fuselage.
64.
Use small pieces of masking tape to hold the windscreen in place as indicated on the plan.
Secure windscreen with canopy glue, or very tiny drops of medium CA.
With the wind screen installed, now’s a good time to install the profile pilot figure within the
cockpit!
65.
Fit and tack glue the ply lower wing spar in the slots in the bottom of the fuselage sides
immediately behind the bottom sheeting F26. The bottom of the spar should parallel (but
not sit flush with) the bottom decking of the fuselage when properly installed.
66.
Carefully fit one
lower
wing panel to the fuselage and spar. Fit the tabs in the root of the
wing panel in the slots in the fuselage side first, then if the wing over the spar, mating the
slots in the spar with the slots in ribs W9 and W10. Tack glue the wing to the spar and
fuselage with small drops of medium CA. Repeat this process to install the opposite
lower
wing panel.
67.
Lay the upper wing center section on the table,
bottom
side
up
. Fit the Cabane Strut Jig to
the ribs of the
center
section, aligning it with the triangles etched on the ribs.
Do not bond
jig to ribs!
