Fault Description
Cause/Remedy
Sheets fall out of the finished binding or
pages do not adhere strongly.
•
Be certain to carefully jog the paper prior to binding
(use electric paper jogger) and when placing into
book clamp make sure each sheet of paper lies
smoothly on the surface of the heat plate and push
the book block fully to right prior to binding.
•
Examine the sheet edges for residues (silicon oil
due to copy process). Fusing oils may lessen
binding strength.
•
If the bound material shifts in the bind after removal
from the book clamp this can be prevented by
holding the book firmly as it is removed from the
clamp and immediately positioned onto the cooling
tray behind the pressure block after binding cycle is
completed
•
Before removing book from the cooling tray allow it
to sit and cool for 10 minutes before use (standard
room temperature). Maximum strength will occur
after book spine has completely cooled.
•
Coated papers may not adhere as strongly as bond
paper.
•
Optimal results will be achieved using minimum of 5
sheets of paper, 20 lb - 32 lb (80 -120 gsm) bond,
with front and back covers of 60 lb - 90 lb (162 gsm -
200 gsm) cover stock
.
•
If greater bind strength is required, test alternative
bond paper stocks in a sample bind to determine
level of satisfactory pull strength performance.
Spots appear on the Binding Strips.
•
Heating plate is soiled with adhesive.
•
Clean the heating plate. Please follow cleaning
procedures. If persists call local authorized dealer
for machine maintenance.
Note
When opening the upper part of the casing, unplug the machine.
WARNING!
Danger of burns due to hot surfaces (290° F / 143° C).
