TRANSMISSION AND CONTROLS
6-8
Up shifting
Each time the shift lever is moved
to the right side, the gear will be
shifted up.
If you push and hold the shift le-
ver to the right (+) direction, the
gear is shifted to .
Down shifting
Each time the shift lever is moved
to the left side, the gear will be
shifted down.
Pushing and holding the shift le-
ver to the left (-) shifts the gear
down depending on the de-
pressed amount of the accelera-
tor pedal.
z
In this position, you can only
use the first gear in the
transmission. Use this po-
sition on long mountainous
terrains, steep hills, and
rough off-roads. This also
provides the engine brake
effect on steep downhill
roads.
MANUAL SHIFTING
Manually move the shift lever into the desired position to shift a gear.
Moving the shift lever to the left (-) or the right (+) shifts the gear up or down.
z
The drive position prevents
the transmission from shift-
ing into the third or fourth
gear. Select the drive range
2 for more power when
climbing hills, and for the
engine braking effects when
driving down steep hills.
z
At this position, the trans-
mission is automatically
shifted from the first gear up
to the third gear according to
vehicle speed. You can get
the engine brake effect
when using this position
during downhill driving.
z
At this position, the trans-
mission is automatically
shifted from the first gear
up to the third gear. Use
this position when driving
down gently sloping roads.
