Connecting the Power Cords
Connecting the Power Cords
Use the following steps to connect the power cords to the BlackPearl NAS solution master
node and any 44-bay expansion nodes. The figure below shows the BlackPearl NAS solution
4U master node. Power connectors on the BlackPearl NAS solution 2U master node, and the
BlackPearl NAS solution 44-Bay expansion node are in similar locations.
IMPORTANT
Do not connect power cords to a BlackPearl NAS solution 96-Bay or 107-Bay
expansion node at this time.
IMPORTANT
The chassis power on as soon as you connect the power cord to the AC power outlet.
1.
Connect a power cord to each of the power supply connectors.

2.
Plug the other end of each cord into an AC power outlet. Spectra Logic recommends
connecting the cords to separate electrical circuits for power redundancy.
3.
When the BlackPearl NAS solution powers on and detects the Activation Key USB device
(see
Automatically Import Activation Keys on page 55
it automatically imports the
activation keys and power cycles the system. Wait while the BlackPearl system performs
its power-on sequence.
Note:
The first time that you log in after importing activation keys, an informational
message displays indicating that you can now safely remove the USB device. Use
the following steps to close the message:
i.
Remove the USB device.
ii.
On the menu bar, select
Status > Messages
. The messages screen displays.
iii.
Select the message about safely removing the USB device, and then select
Action >
Mark as read
. The informational message closes.
