1.0 Introduction
Congratulations! Whether you bought the ProtoTRAK EMX CNC as a retrofit or as the CNC
integrated into the TRAK Knee Mill or TRAK DPMEX2 Bed Mill, you have an excellent toolroom
machine. The ProtoTRAK EMX has an easy-to-use interface features that make knee and bed
mill work faster and more productive.
Manual Machining
is always available and made easier with features like power feed, 100 inch
per minute rapids, and all the best features of sophisticated DRO’s.
Two-Axis or Two and ½ Axis Machining
is available at the touch of a button for the
prototyping and moderately complex, low volume work that is typically done on knee mills or bed
mills.
The operation of the ProtoTRAK EMX CNC has been painstakingly refined to bring you the most
useful CNC technology while retaining the ease of use that has made ProtoTRAK the top brand in
controls for low volume production.
This manual will describe the operation of all basic and optional features in the appropriate
context. Where optional features are discussed, a note will explain in which option the particular
feature is found.

1.2 Manual Organization Notes
This manual covers the operation of the retrofit, TRAK K Mill and TRAK DPMEX2 products that
use the ProtoTRAK EMX CNC.
Some Sections do not apply to all users. For example, if you own a ProtoTRAK retrofit, you
should skip the sections that cover the description and operation of TRAK K Mills.
Sections that may not apply to all users contain a note to inform you of this fact.
Section 2
of this manual provides important safety information. It is highly recommended that
all operators of this product review this safety information carefully.
