Adjusting the
Operating Voltage
Before connecting the power, set the
VOLTAGE SELECTOR to the position of
your local power line voltage.
Connecting the
Power
Connect the AC Power cord to a wall outlet
after you have made all the above
connections.
The demo mode appears in the display
when you connect the AC power cord to a
wall outlet.
Plug Adapter (only for the model
supplied with the plug adapter)
If the plug of this unit does not fit your wall
outlet, detach the supplied adapter on to
the plug.
Deactivating the
Demo mode
To deactivate the demo mode, press
DISPLAY/DEMO with the system power
turned off.
• If the color system of your TV is NTSC:
Set SYSTEM SELECT to NTSC.
When you play a VIDEO CD recorded in
the PAL color system, the picture will be
stretched vertically and will be displayed
with the upper and lower parts of the
picture cut off.
• If the color system of your TV is PAL:
Set SYSTEM SELECT to PAL.
When you play a VIDEO CD recorded in
the NTSC color system, the picture will be
stretched horizontally and will be
displayed with the upper and lower parts
of the screen masked in black.
Be sure to turn the system off when
changing the setting of the SYSTEM
SELECT.
Inserting the
Batteries
Install two R6 (size AA) batteries in the
supplied remote for remote control.

Open the lid.

Insert two R6 (size AA) batteries.
Match the + and – indications to the
diagram in the battery compartment.

Close the lid.
Battery life
You can expect the remote to operate for
about six months (using Sony SUM-3 (NS)
batteries) before the batteries run down.
When the batteries no longer operate the
remote, replace all the batteries with new
ones.
To avoid battery leakage
If you are not going to use the remote for a
long time, remove the batteries to avoid
damage caused by corrosion from battery
leakage.
