Noise increases or the high
frequencies are erased.
The record/playback heads are
magnetized (see “Demagnetizing the
tape heads” (page 134)).
The tape does not record.
No tape is loaded. Load a tape.
The tab has been removed from
the tape. Cover the broken tab with
adhesive tape (page 134).
The tape has reeled to the end.
Optional components
There is no sound.
Refer to General item “There is no
sound.” (page 118) and check the
condition of the system.
Connect the component properly (page
113) while checking:
if the cords are connected properly.
if the cord plugs are firmly inserted
all the way.
Turn on the connected component.
Refer to the operating instructions
supplied with the connected
component and start playing.
If the system still does not operate
properly after performing the
above measures or other troubles
not described above occur, reset the
system as follows:
Use buttons on the unit to reset the
system to its factory default settings.

Unplug the power cord.

Plug the power cord back in.

Press
to turn on the system.

While holding down ENTER
, press
ILLUMINATION
and press
at the same time.
“COLD RESET” appears in the display.
The system is reset to the factory
settings except for the “SETUP”
settings. You should set the settings
you made, such as the preset stations,
clock and timer.
