Tripod tips: older model Sachtler base plate

The older, heavier, Sachtler tripod model

has a very powerful quick plate release spring.

Before removing the plate, make sure the tilt and pan are locked.

To remove the quick release plate you must pull down on the small red disk attached below the

red lever. Then move the lever to the left. The quick release plate should pop up.

Remove the release plate by the tripod screw.

Be careful not to get your fingers trapped between the plate and the release mechanism!

The plate snaps into place with a lot of force.
