For Optimum Performance
To avoid possible operational problems, and to ensure
high performance operation of the unit, note the
following points in handling the unit (including the
tape streamer) and the cassettes.
Handling the Unit
• Do not subject the unit to vibration or shocks.
The unit is a precision instrument, and vibration or
shocks could lead to a failure of the internal
mechanism.
• Do not obstruct the ventilation holes.
• Leave a space of at least 10 cm between the air filter
on the rear panel and the wall, and a space of at least
5 cm between the left and right sides and the wall.
• Do not move the unit while it is powered on.
• While in operation, the tape is moved at high speed in
the tape streamer, and therefore moving the unit
could destabilize the operation or lead to tape
damage. Do not move the unit while it is in
operation.
• Do not move the unit with cassettes inserted in the
tape streamer or bins. Always remove cassettes when
the unit is not in use.
• To maintain the unit in the state for optimum
performance, ensure that it is subject to regular
maintenance checks.
Handling Cassettes
• Do not bring cassettes close to a strong magnetic
field.
• Do not allow the tape in a cassette to come into
contact with your hands.
• Do not leave cassettes unused in the unit.
• To prevent the accidental erasure of precious
information, use the write-inhibit tab on the back of
the cassette.
Operation and Storage
Avoid storing or operating the unit or cassettes in the
following conditions.
• In damp locations
• In hot locations
• In locations subject to direct sunlight
• In dusty locations
• In locations subject to strong vibration
• In locations subject to extreme temperature variations
• In a location which is not level
Cleaning
Clean the exterior of the unit using a cloth dampened
with a mild detergent, then wipe with a dry cloth.
Do not use organic solvents such as alcohol or thinner,
as these may cause discoloration or other damage to
the finish of the unit.
For details of how to clean the tape streamer, refer to
the separate documentation for the tape streamer.
Shipping the Unit
Before shipping the unit, the tape streamer should first
be removed and the elevator shipping lock fitted.
Always use the special-purpose packing materials for
shipping.
The removal of the tape streamer should be entrusted
to a technician who has undergone the appropriate
service training.
