1.
Trigger the timer to start at 10.00am, stop at 10.30am and countdown beforehand.
•
Set the mode to Time of day; start and stop times to 10:00:00 and 10:30:00
respectively.
•
Tick the countdown box. If the current time is 9:45am then the timer will now be
displaying 00:15:00, and be counting down. It will currently be white, assuming
the default colors are set.
•
When the time of day is 10 seconds before 10am the timer will change color to
orange and be displaying 00:00:10.
•
When 10am is reached it will switch to red and start counting up from 00:00:00.
•
When 10:30am is reached it will be displaying 00:30:00. Immediately after that it
will change back to white and start counting down from 23:30:00 - the amount of
time remaining before 10am the next day.
2.
Trigger the timer by a GPI. Initially it is to countdown from 00:00:30.
•
First, a GPI has to be assigned as timer trigger one. In the Module Menu | Setup
Module, go to the GPIs tab, and then GPI Inputs sub-tab. On the GPI that is to be
used click on the drop-down list and select the Timer 1 trigger item. (There are 10
timer trigger items available here - if multiple timers require triggering from differ-
ent GPIs then up to 10 can be set up).
•
Press OK to close this GPI window. Open the Object Properties of the Timer tile,
and in the Properties tab set the Trigger Mode to GPI Input. Next to this select
Timer trigger 1 as the GPI source. Set the start time to 00:00:30 and tick the
countdown box.
•
When this GPI is triggered, the timer will start counting down from 00:00:30, and
be colored white.
•
When it reaches 00:00:10 it will change to orange. 10 seconds later it will reach 0,
change to red, and start counting up.
•
The timer continues to count upwards indefinitely, wrapping back to 00:00:00
after 24 hours. Any further assertions on the GPI triggering this timer will reset it
back to 00:00:30, counting down.
Transition
For time of day triggering this is the color of the timer digits for the 10
seconds before the start time is reached. For GPI triggering, if the
timer is only set to count up then this is not applicable. If it is set to
count down first then it will change to the transition color for the 10
seconds before it reaches 0.
Destination
For time of day triggering, this is the color of the timer digits while the
time of day is in between the start time and stop time. For GPI
triggering this is the color of the timer digits after it has finished
counting down (or if not set to count down then it is the color that the
timer changes to as soon as the GPI triggers it).
Background
Color of the filled background.
Note:
The GPI triggering of the timer is only sensitive to positive edges. In other words, a
transition from 0V to 3V or greater on the relevant GPI pin will trigger the timer. It does not
have to be held above this threshold indefinitely to remain counting. It must remain
asserted for at least 200ms though to trigger the timer. Any further transitions from 0V to
3V or above will re-trigger it.
