How to work with TIP* and OTS XTrain* reports
The meaning of the report fields
The fields at the beginning of all reports mean:
Report
:
type of the report
Report date
:
selected period of time of the report
Unit type
:
type of the HI-SCAN X-ray unit
Serial number
:
serial number of the HI-SCAN X-ray unit
The other fields, which are variable among the reports mean:
Date
:
date of an event
Name
:
name of the operator
Login ID
:
user ID of the operator
Company/Authority
:
company or authority the operator works for
Location
:
installation site (airport or other building) of the HI-SCAN X-ray unit
Subsite
:
specified location inside the building
Login
:
point of time the operator has logged in
Logout
:
point of time the operator has logged out
#BAGs
:
number of bags scanned or basic images recalled
#TIPs
:
number of projected fictitious threat images and -objects
Nh
:
number of threat images and -objects
detected
(marked with
H
) by the operator
(
N
umber of
H
its)
Nfa
:
number of bags/basic images
marked
with
H
by the operator,
without
any threat
projection occurred (
N
umber of
F
alse
A
larms)
Nm
:
number of threat images and -objects which have
not
been detected by the operat-
or (
N
umber of
M
issed objects and images)
Pd
:
probability that projected threat images and -objects are
detected
by the operator
(
P
robability of
D
etection). Possible values are between 0 and 1. The higher the
value the higher the probability.
Pfa
:
probability that the operator marks bags/basic images
without
any threat projec-
tion occurred (
P
robability of
F
alse
A
larms). Possible values are between 0 and 1.
The higher the value, the higher the probability is.
d'
:
d
erived operator performance factor. Possible values are between −4,7 and +4.7.
The higher the value, the higher the probability is that the operator correctly de-
tects projected threat images and -objects and does not actuate
H
, if no projec-
tions were made.
Response time(sec)
:
average times needed by the operator to actuate
H
:
Hit
:
in case of threat images or -objects projected
False
:
in case of X-ray images without any threat projections
Totals
:
sum of values listed in a column
Averages
:
average of values listed in a column
#Shifts
:
number of shifts a operator has worked on the X-ray unit
Time On (min)
:
total time (indicated in minutes) a operator was logged in within the selected report
period
Time
:
point of time of an event
Category
:
category of a projected threat image or -object
Subcategory
:
subcategory of a projected threat image or -object

The designation "False Alarm" is perhaps
misleading
since also
real
dan-
gerous objects are marked with
H
. For the evaluation of statistics it makes
sense to keep a list referring to the user which records the number of de-
tected real dangerous objects; this number is subtracted from the number
of false alarms.
