5.1.1.2 Sequence of events: Mobile Terminated–Short Burst Data message (MT-SBD)

1.

The message is sent to the Iridium Gateway server by the Value Added Reseller’s host server
via email or a DirectIP connection.

2.

Iridium Gateway SBD equipment receives the message and stores it in a database.

3.

Modem initiates a “Mailbox Check” either alone or in response to a Ring Alert, and the
message is downloaded to the modem.

4.

Modem sends an acknowledgement to the Iridium Gateway that the mobile-terminated-SBD
message has been delivered.

5.

Application extracts the mobile-terminated-SBD message from the modem and processes
the message.

5.2

GSM

The following services use the GSM network: FTP, SMS, TCP, UDP and SMTP/POP.
