Operation
Generally, contraction joint grid should divide concrete slab(s) into square panels. Follow this recom -
mended spacing chart:
Concrete Thickness Spacing
3 .5" (9 cm) 8 ft . (2 .4 m)
4 – 4 .5" (10 – 11 .5 cm) 10 ft . (3 m)
5 – 5 .5" (12 .5 – 14 cm) 12 ft . (3 .6 m)
6" (15 cm) or more 15 ft . (4 .5 m)
CAUTION
This diamond wheel is designed to cut “green concrete" only. “Green con-
crete" is a stage of the concrete when it is not completely cured and hardened but
its surface is strong enough to support the weight of the tool and its user .
Type of aggregate Recommended cutting rate*
Soft aggregates 4 .6 ft/min (1 .4 m/min)
Medium aggregates 3 .3 ft/min (1 m/min)
Hard aggregates 2 ft/min (0 .6 m/min)
* Speed will vary with job conditions and concrete mixes.
Cutting depth – 1-1/2" (38 mm) with the depth stop installed .
With the depth of cut 1-1/2" (38mm) the cutting distance from the wall
a = 5-1/2” (140mm), b = 8-1/2"
(216mm) . The distance from the right edge of the saw to the cutting line c = 6-1/4" (159mm) . See Fig . 12 .
