SPECIAL OPERATION
Towing an Accessory
Always use a rigid tow bar to tow an ac-
cessory. Any towed accessory should
have reflectors on both sides and at the
rear. Check local laws for brake light(s)
requirements.
WARNING
Never tow an accessory with a
rope. Always use a rigid tow bar.
Using a rope would result in a col-
lision between the object and the
snowmobile and possibly in a tip
over in case of a rapid deceleration
or on a downward slope.
Towing Another
Snowmobile
If a snowmobile is disabled and must
be towed use a rigid tow bar. Remove
the drive belt from disabled snowmo-
bile, refer to
DRIVE BELT
in the
MAIN-
TENANCE PROCEDURES
subsection
and tow at moderate speed.
NOTICE
Always remove the drive
belt of the snowmobile that is to be
towed to prevent damage to its belt
and drive system.
In an emergency situation only, if a rigid
tow bar is not available, a rope can be
used. Proceed with extra caution. In
some areas, it may be illegal to do so.
Check with state or local authorities.
Remove the drive belt, attach the rope
to the ski legs (spindles), have some-
one sit on the towed snowmobile to ac-
tivate the brake, and tow at low speed.
NOTICE
In order to prevent dam-
age to the steering system, never
attach the tow rope to the ski loops
(handles).
WARNING
Never ride at high speed when
towing a disabled snowmobile.
Proceed slowly with extra caution.
