Look closely at the gathering foot, and you will
notice a slot at the side of the foot.
When using the slot, you can gather the bottom
layer of the fabric while attaching it to a flat top
layer, such as the waistband on a dress bodice.
1. Remove the presser foot holder and attach
gathering foot.
2. Place the fabric to be gathered with right side
up under the foot.
3. Place top layer of the fabric right side down in
the slot.
4. Guide the two layers as illustrated.

When testing machine for
adjustments to achieve desired fullness,
work with 10" increments of the fabric, trims
or elastic. This makes it easier to determine
the adjustments and how much change is
needed for your project. Always test on
your project fabric and on the same
grainline as will be used in your finished
project.
Using the crossgrain of the fabric will make
prettier gathers than the straight of grain.
Sew slow to medium speed for
better fabric control.
