3. Safety
The following safety guidelines must be observed in order to prevent physical injury and
damage to objects or to the blower itself.
Warning:
- The emitter points on the VolumION are sharp and can cause injuries.
- Electrical installation and repairs must be carried out by a skilled electrical engineer in
accordance with the applicable national and local regulations.
- The VolumION is only intended for neutralizing electrostatically charged parts and/or
surfaces.
- The VolumION must not be used in environments that pose a fire or explosion hazard.
- The VolumION must only be used to displace clean air. It is not permitted to use it with
aggressive, toxic, explosive or moist media.
- Solid substances or impurities in the air to be displaced must first be filtered out before the air
reaches the fan.
- The VolumION should not be exposed to vibrations or knocks.
- The VolumION does not have an on/off switch. Use a motor safety switch to disconnect the
mains voltage to the VolumION.
- The external motor safety switch acts as overload protection and as an emergency stop.
- The equipment must be properly earthed. Earthing is required to ensure safe and proper
operation and to prevent electrical shocks upon contact.
- Do not operate the VolumION with an open suction opening (grate removed). Danger of
injury by the fan blades. The suction opening must only be opened for maintenance and, if
necessary, to check the direction of rotation.
- Keep the air inlet openings clear during operation. There is a risk of injury as a result of
objects, clothing and hair being drawn in.
- During the ionisation process, a small amount of ozone is produced around the electrodes.
The ozone concentration depends on a number of factors, such as the space in which the
blower is installed and the air ventilation. No general value can be given for the ozone
concentration.
- Making changes, adjustments etc. without prior written consent or carrying out repairs non-
original parts will invalidate the equipment's guarantee.
The high-voltage emitter points are limited to a current of 20 µA, which means that they are safe
to touch and shockproof.
When following the instructions given in this manual, no residual dangers are indicated.
