Fitting the auxiliary handle

WARNING

: To ensure operator safety, ALWAYS use the auxiliary handle. Install it at the

most appropriate position for the individual task.
1.  Screw the Auxiliary Handle (1) clockwise into one of the 2 Handle Threads (2 or 4) either

side of the tool. Tighten by hand

2.  To remove the handle, unscrew anti-clockwise

WARNING

: The correct guard MUST be installed for each application before operation

commences.

WARNING

: NEVER install a cutting disc or superabrasive cutting wheel without the

Cutting Wheel Guard (20) in place.

Note

: The guard must be adjusted so that it is situated between the Disc (12) and the

operator. Reset the guard if the work angle or the position of the operator changes. Seek
professional guidance if you are unsure how to operate the guards or any other safety
features of the machine correctly.

Note

: The angle grinder is supplied with the Grinding Guard (11) pre-installed.

Adjusting the guard

1.  Open the Guard Clamp (14)
2.  The guard can be moved through a range of approximately 90°, so that it can be placed

between the Disc (12) and the operator at any required work angle

3.  Close the Guard Clamp

Note

: If the Guard Clamp is too loose or too tight, open completely and adjust the clamp nut

Removing Guard

Note

: Skip Step 1 if no disc is installed.

1.  Depress the Spindle Lock button (15), rotate the Spindle (19) until you feel the lock

engage, use the Pin Spanner (16) to remove the Outer Flange (18) and remove the disc

2.  Loosen the Guard Clamp (14), rotate the guard until the protrusions on the band of the

guard are aligned with the notches on the gear housing, and remove the guard

Installing Guard

1.  Loosen the Guard Clamp (14)
2.  Align the protrusions on the wheel guard band with the notches on the gear housing
3.  Push the guard onto the gear housing and adjust position
4.  Tighten the Guard Clamp (14)

Fitting a grinding, cutting or flap disc

Note

: Ensure you have the correct guard installed for the disc you plan to install.

1.  Place the Disc (12) onto the Inner Flange (17)

Note

: If using depressed centre discs, ensure that the depression is positioned towards

the Inner Flange.
2.  Screw the Outer Flange (18) onto the Spindle (19). The raised centre of the threaded

flange should face towards the Disc when installing a grinding disc, and away when
installing a cutting disc

3.  Depress the Spindle Lock button (15) and rotate the Spindle (19) until you feel the

lock engage

4.  You can now use the supplied Pin Spanner (16) to fully tighten the Outer Flange. When

tight, release the Spindle Lock button. The angle grinder is now ready for use.

5.  To remove a Disc, depress the Spindle Lock button, rotate the Spindle (19) until you feel

the lock engage, and use the Pin Spanner to remove the Outer Flange

Fitting a wire cup brush

1.  Remove Outer Flange (18), Disc (12) (if installed) and Inner Flange (17) from the

Spindle (19)

2.  Screw wire cup brush directly onto Spindle
3.  Depress the Spindle Lock (15) button and rotate the Spindle until you feel the Spindle

Lock engage

4.  Tighten the wire cup brush with a suitable spanner. Release the Spindle Lock button.

The machine is now ready for use (see Image A)

5.  To remove a wire cup brush, depress the Spindle Lock button, rotate the Spindle until

you feel the lock engage, then use a suitable spanner to remove the wire cup brush

Handle Rotation

The main handle can be rotated typically used for a vertical cut for example when
cutting concrete.
1.  Depress the Handle Rotation Switch (5)
2.  Rotate the Main Handle (7) 90° left or right from its normal central position (Fig. II)
3.  Release the Handle Rotation Switch and ensure the Main Handle is locked in position

before use

Operation

Switching on/off

Note

: Do not switch the machine on/off when the Disc (12) is in contact with the

workpiece. Always allow the motor to reach its full speed before applying load, and to stop
completely before placing the angle grinder down. Always hold the machine securely, using
both hands, on the handles provided.

Note

: This tool features a combined Lock On and Lock Off feature using a Trigger Lock (9)

1.  Grip the Main Handle (7) and Auxiliary Handle (1) firmly
2.  Push the Trigger Lock (9) forward (Fig. I position a)
3.  Depress the On/Off Trigger Switch (8) to start the tool (Fig. I position b) and hold in

position to use

•  Further press in the Trigger Lock and depress the On/Off Trigger to lock the switch on

(Fig. I position c)

•  To stop the machine, release the On/Off Trigger Switch. For the locked position, press

and release the On/Off Trigger Switch

Grinding

•  Only use discs specifically manufactured for grinding operations. Stone and metal

grinding discs are not interchangeable, use the correct disc for your application

•  When grinding, keep the tool at approximately 15 to 30° to the workpiece surface

(see Image B)

Note

: Do not apply too much pressure to the machine whilst grinding. Excessive pressure

does not result in more effective removal of material, but will in fact cause premature wear
of the grinding disc and increase wear and tear on the machine.

Cutting

WARNING

: Always ensure that the correct guard for use with cutting discs or

superabrasive wheels is installed.
•  Only use discs specifically manufactured for cutting operations. Stone and metal cutting

discs are not interchangeable, use the correct disc for your application

•  Never use cutting discs for grinding operations. The disc might shatter and produce

projectiles that could injure the operator and bystanders

•  When cutting, always keep the angle of the disc constant. Do not apply any sideways

force to cutting discs, as this might lead to the disc becoming jammed in the cut and
shatter

WARNING

: Do not apply too much pressure to the machine whilst cutting. Excessive

pressure does not result in more effective or faster cutting, but will in fact cause premature
wear of the cutting disc and increase wear and tear on the machine.

Note

: The cutting disc will wear during use, and the disc diameter will gradually reduce

in size. The smaller the disc becomes, the more strain will be placed on the motor. To
avoid damage to the machine, only use cutting discs that are no less than 75% of their
original size.

Using a cup brush or wire wheel

•  Always check that the maximum speed of the cup brush or wire wheel does not exceed

the no load speed of the grinder

•  Ensure that no part of the cup brush or wire wheel can come into contact with the

machine housing

•  Run the grinder, with cup brush or wire wheel attached, for at least 30 seconds before

use to check that the cup brush or wire wheel is secure, and properly balanced

•  When using a wire cup brush or wire wheel, avoid applying excess pressure.

Using greater force will not make the cup brush or wire wheel more effective, but will
bend the wires out of shape and damage the brush
