Mounting Rails
The ISS3500 system is shipped with mounting rails. See Chapter 3, “Installing the ISS3500
System in a Rack.” , to set up your rack.
Power Supply
Each ISS3500 system includes two redundant high-efficiency hot-swappable power supplies rated
at 1400 Watts. In the unlikely event of a failure in one of the power supplies, you can remove and
replace the faulty power supply without powering down the system
.
Air Shroud
Air shrouds are shields, usually plastic, that funnel air directly to where it is needed.
Important: Always use the air shroud included with your system.
QuickPath Interconnect
The Intel 5520 IO Hub connects to each processor through an independent QuickPath Interconnect
(QPI) link (See
Figure 1-2 .). Two full-width QPI links provide a data transfer rate of up to 51.2
GB/s (5.866 GT/s in each direction). Each processor supports two QPI links, one going to the other
processor and the other link to the Intel 5520 IO Hub.
Memory Support
In its 12 240-pin DIMM sockets, the ISS3500 supports up to 96 GB of Registered ECC or up to
24 GB of Unbuffered ECC/Non ECC DDR3 1333 MHz/1066 MHz/800 MHz. Please note that
Memory Speed support depends on the type of CPU. See
“DIMM Slot Population” on page 31 for
proper DIMM slot population.
