AirPrime XM0110 Development Kit
Daughter Board
Quick Start Steps
2.5.2.
Common Issue Troubleshooting
2.5.2.1.
Application Download KO
If you are using a Q268xH or WMP1x0 with a 32Mb/8Mb memory
: the GPS application will fail to
download (a download error message will show on HyperTerminal). You must use instead an
AirPrime Q268xG, Q268xRD, or WMP with 64Mb/16Mb combo.
If you are using a WMP1x0 with a 32Mb/16Mb memory
: the GPS application will fail to download (a
download error message will show on HyperTerminal). You must change the memory mapping with
AT+WOPEN=6,384 command.
2.5.2.2.
Any GPS AT Commands Returns ERROR
If any GPS AT command returns “ERROR” without any error code,
the application has not been
correctly started. In this event, use AT+WOPEN=7 and refer to document
cause.
In case an error code is associated to the ERROR, refer to document
2.5.2.3.
AT+GPSSTART failure (+GPSEVSTART:0)
If after AT+GPSSTART, GPS STATE blinks rapidly for about 20 seconds
(i.e. firmware download
attempt ongoing), and then you rGPSEVSTART:0 event, check that your UART2 switches
are correctly set on the Embedded Module Development Kit (see 2.3.1.2).
2.5.2.4.
GPS performances with passive antenna or GPS
simulator
The software default configuration assumes use with an active antenna, i.e. optimized for external
LNA.
In case the XM0110 daughter board is connected to a passive antenna or to a GPS simulator, this
default configuration applies 10dB attenuation on the signal, degrading significantly the GPS
performances. XM0110 internal LNA configuration must be used instead. It is set using the following
AT command sequence:
AT+GPSINIT=11 (to initialize the GPS application on UART with default hardware settings,
without starting GPS)
AT+GPSCONFIG=1, 0 (optimize receive chain for internal LNA)
AT+GPSSAVE=1 (optional, to saves this setting after next Embedded Module reset or power
off/power on sequence)
Note:
This command does not de-activate the antenna power supply. You still have to use a DC blocker if
needed to protect your GPS simulator.
