Procedure
1.
Make sure (possibly with a sketch) to indicate at which slots Advanced controls are
installed and which slots are in between.
2.
First "dry" wire on paper: How many slots are in between in each case?
3.
In the table in the "Total quantity" column, keep a tally with the number of connecting
cables you need of one type.
4.
Then order exactly the connecting cables you need via the respective article number.
Wiring of the assignment example for an Extension Unit Advanced
The configuration of the Advanced operator controls in the TIA Portal, starting with14 without
a gap from left to right, must match the slot number:

corresponding operator controls must be wired in exactly this order, even if they are
equipped the other way around:

In the delivery state of the minimum configuration (1 × KP12) ex works, the KP12 is located
at slot 14.

The dashed circles show the slots in between, see section "Rear" in section
"Specifying the operator controls and slots (Page 31)".

The connecting cable from the communication module to the first operator control KP12
(= slot 14) is supplied: 300 mm connecting cable.
Wiring 14-15: In the KP12 module, one additional slot, two operator controls and one
empty slot: In total, four in between: 300 mm connecting cable.
Wiring 15-16: One in between: 105 mm connecting cable.
Wiring 16-17: 0 in between: 50 mm connecting cable.
