Appendix 6 - Replacement of Headset Lead

If the lead connecting the headset to the audiometer becomes damaged it
is possible to replace it. The procedure below must be followed.

The audiometer will have been calibrated with a
specific headset and specific earphones for each ear.
It is essential that earphones are used only with the
audiometer and channel (ear) for which they are
calibrated.

Preparation

If necessary, extend the headphones such that the individual earphones
are accessible as shown below.

Procedure

1. Work with the left (blue) earphone first and complete the replacement of
the blue headphone lead before working with the right (red) earphone

2. Carefully remove the ear-cushion by gently pulling it away from the
plastic housing of the headset; the earphone will then be exposed
