Software installation 

The software installation includes the following: 

  Composer and basic tools for system configuration. 

  Additional tools: NW8202 (for IP configuration download), NW8204 (for 

maintenance and diagnostic), NK823x Web Server (for NK8237 diagnostic 

information and IP configuration). 

  IEC GW Add-on installation

Installation checklist 

Items needed for the installation 

  DMS8000 DVD 

  DMS8000 Service key (dongle) - not required for Composer GW Tool 

(NK8237) setup type 

  Service key license PAK code (or the REG file that contains it) - not required 

for Composer GW Tool (NK8237) setup type 

  IEC GW Add-on: MM8000 MP4.81 - Addon N.10 (IEC GW - V.1.01) - CD 

Installation checklist 

1.  Install the Composer Software and, if required, the license key and PAK. 

If necessary, you can refer to the following documentation: 
–   

Composer Technical Manual (A6V10062401)

MM8000 Installation, Configuration & Commissioning (A6V10062413) 

–   

DMS8000 Network Connectivity Guide (A6V10359485) 

–   

MM8000 Release Notes (A6V10062509) 

3.  Install the NK8237 unit and configure the IP address of the NK8237 unit, you 

can use the NK823x Web Server [➙ 36] (that is pre-installed on the SD card of 

the NK8237 units or can be installed during the update of the kernel [➙ 69]) or 

install the NW8202 tool [➙ 38]. 

4.  Install the NK8237 IEC GW Add-on [➙ 33]. 
5.  Update the NK823x firmware [➙ 64]: 

First download the firmware NK823x_4.81_Build_6x, and as second step the

 

AddOn_NK8237_IEC_Build_1x 

6.  If required for diagnostics, install the NW8204 tool [➙ 39]. 

8.2

 

Composer tool 

Composer tool can be installed using the standard DMS8000 DVD. 
If only NK8237 commissioning is needed, you can choose the Composer GW Tool 

(NK8237) installation option, which is a light version of Composer with only the 

functionalities required for commissioning. The Composer GW Tool version needs 

no license. 
A full-feature version of Composer is installed along with the following installation 

types, all requiring a license: 

   Composer and Subsystem Tools. This option installs the standard version of 

Composer with all functionalities required to commissioning MM8000, MK8000 

or NK8000 products. 

   Stand-alone (MM8000). This option installs the MM8000 Server and Client and 

the standard version of Composer with all functionalities required to 

commissioning MM8000 and NK8000 products.
