General troubleshooting
Please refer to the attached table for general troubleshooting. In case the instructions
provided cannot solve the issue, contact your local SICK service organization for support.
Problem
Possible causes
Actions
No display, no signal outputs
Faulty power supply
Check the input voltage at terminals 1 and 2 against the specified
range.
Check cables and terminal connections for damages.
Defective FLOWSIC60
Contact your local SICK service organization.
Erroneous readings or reading
invalid
Improper parameter setting
Verify valid setting of “path length”, “path angle”, “Adjust fac-
tor”,“Adjust offset”, “AO at 20 mA” and “AO at 4 mA” according to
the installation conditions
Misalignment of sensors
Align sensors exactly as given on
Blockage/Obstructions of
measuring path
Remove any blockages and obstructions between sensor A and B
with a minimal clearance of 1 m around the ultrasonic path as
given in
Cable damage
Check the sensor cables for damages.
Inaccurate determination of
path length
Check VOS value at FLOWSIC60 display. Compare the reading with
the theoretical VOS for actual ambient conditions. The difference
must not be greater than ±1 %. (e.g. VOS for air @20 °C and
1013 mbar is 343.5 m/s)
Readjust path length, if applicable.
Inverted readings
Transposed installation of
sensors or cables
Check installation of sensors acc. to
– Transpose sensor positions.
– Transpose signal cables at SPU.
– Invert “Adjust factor”.
Warning active
Soiling of sensors
Clean sensors.
Obstruction at measuring
path
Remove obstructions between sensor A and B with a minimal clear-
ance of 1 m around the ultrasonic path as given in
Misalignment of sensors
