Printer Functions
Name
Description
A4/Letter Auto
Change
If you want to print A4 size data but A4 paper has run out, this feature prints it on letter size
paper.
Auto Job Control
Review
Automatically displays the job settings before printing so you can check it.
Barcode Font
The optional Barcode Font Kit enables printing of barcodes.
Binding Edge
Determines how the left, right and top edges of a document’s front and back pages are
positioned when automatically printing on both sides using the duplex function.
Carbon Copy
Prints the same data on paper from two or more different paper trays.
Colour Detection
Colour selection during printing – the MX-5000N/01N & MX-4100N/01N differentiates
between colour and black & white pages in multi-page files and selects the correct mode
with the following exception:
Files that contain images are detected and counted as colour documents if Automatic mode
is pre-set in the printer driver. To be always counted and printed as Black & White, select
‘Black & White’ in the driver.
Continuous Print
(Extra Print Mode)
When a large number of small-volume print jobs are sent to the MX-5000N/01N &
MX-4100N/01N, it processes these jobs as a single print job. This eliminates procedures
normally required between separate print jobs (such as polygon mirror control processing),
thus enhancing printing efficiency.
Different Paper
Setting
Inserts a different type of paper for cover page or inserts. (letter-head paper, coloured paper,
etc.)
Direct Print
(e-mail)
When an e-mail account for an MFP is set up on the mail server, the user can send e-mail to
the MFP with attached print data (with extensions such as .pcl, .ps, .pdf, tiff and xps). The
data can then be printed without using a printer driver. (The MFP prints it automatically.)
Direct Print (FTP)
An FTP server can be stored in the MFP to enable direct printing of files on the server from
the control panel without the need for a printer driver. Files with the
extensions .pcl, .ps, .pdf, tiff, xps, and prn can be printed.
Direct Print (SMB) Prints data directly from the SMB on the network without the need for a printer driver.
Direct Print (USB
memory)
Prints data directly from a USB memory device connected to the MFP without the need for a
printer driver. Users select the data in memory from the MFPs control panel and follow
instructions to print the file.
Direct Print (Web)
Prints data with the extensions such as .pcl, .ps, .pdf, tiff, and xps via a Web page without
the need for a printer driver.
Duplex Printing
Prints data on both sides of the paper.
Encrypted PDF
Prints an encrypted PDF using the Direct Print function
.
ESC/P (Super)
Setting
Enables setting changes (printing start position, fonts, reduced size printing, etc.) when
printing data in ESP/C.
Fit to Page
Automatically selects the appropriate reduction/enlargement ratio to match the paper size
you select.
Graphics Mode
Selects a graphics mode from raster or vector.
ICC Profile
Using ICC profile data enables colour balance adjustments with other colour output
machines.
Image Orientation Chooses portrait or landscape as the image orientation for print jobs.
Interface Setting
Controls and monitors data transmitted to the USB port or network port of MFP. (for
example, IO time out, or port switching method).
Line Thickness
Adjusts the line width of vector graphics. (black and white printing only)
Mirror Image
Reproduces a mirror image printout of the original print data.
Notice Page
Prints a notice page automatically (for example, “print error caused by no PIN code in Audit
mode”).
Notify Job End
A pop-up screen appears on your PC to notify you that the print job has finished.
N-up
Prints multiple pages of data onto a single sheet.
Object Control
Sets items such as fonts to use and graphics modes.
