Transmission Lubrication (5.9.9)
Transmission oil should be replaced after 3 events or 1000 km.
Mandatory oil is SEAT Sport Part No. G052182A2. The oil quantity is 7.2 litres.
Transmission Oil Level
To check the transmission oil level use the following sequence:
With the engine running and transmission in neutral, at a temperature of 35°C, unscrew oil inspection plug
“B”. The inspection plug “B” is located next to the engine stabiliser shown in diagram 45.
A small amount of oil will drain out when the plug is removed. This is oil which is left in the level tube
shown in diagram 46. The gear oil level is correct when a small amount of oil still drains out when the oil
temperature is between 35 °C and 45 °C.
Note: Every 30 seconds a small surge of oil will come out of the oil level tube, regardless of the oil level.
The cooling oil supply to the clutch causes this oil surge. The surge of oil is no indication for the correct oil
level and should therefore be disregarded.
If no gear oil drains out when the oil temperature is between 35°C and 45°C, the gear oil needs to be
topped up. The oil-filling plug is located behind the transmission oil cooler shown in diagram 47.
To drain the oil, remove plug -B- and then remove the oil level tube. If carrying out an oil change, measure
the quantity to gauge how much to refill then run through the checking sequence.
