
SAFETY LANYARD
This safety device automatically stops
the engines if the lanyard is attached
to the operator and the operator falls
from the control station.
The safety lanyard clip must be se-
curely attached to the operator's PFD,
clothing, arm, or leg. Be sure to attach
the lanyard clip to a place where it is
free of obstructions and to something
that will move with the operator if he
or she leaves the helm station. If the
engine shuts down because the DESS
key attached to the safety lanyard was
removed, the key must be reinstalled
on the DESS post before the engine
can be restarted.

WARNING
Always use the safety lanyard
when operating your boat. Keep
DESS post free from obstructions
that could interfere with its opera-
tion. Do not modify or bypass its
safety features. The proper use
of the safety lanyard can prevent
a runaway boat situation which
otherwise could cause severe per-
sonal injury or death.
