5. Installation
While the
P4
dragon
can be located some distance from the computer, it is still connected to
that one computer only, just as a serial-port or USB modem, except being connected via a
network. It can also be “disconnected” from one computer and “connected” to another, just like
a serial or USB-modem, except this happens by opening and closing TCP/IP network
connections. This means that a
P4
dragon
, installed in a network,
cannot be accessed by more
than one computer at the same time!
It cannot be shared, although networking technology
would imply that it could be.
5.4.2
Installing the SER2NET driver on the PC
On the PC that shall control the
P4
dragon
, a SER2NET driver must be installed. We
recommend

developer and want to integrate the driver into your product, we recommend the driver from

5.4.3
Configuring SER2NET
After starting "HW Virtual serial Port" with the icon that has been created by the installation
process, you have to enter some settings. The field
"IP Address"
requires the IP address of
your
P4
dragon
, the field
“Port”
defines the
“Data Port”
of the
P4
dragon
and
"Port Name"
characterizes the COM port generated by "HW Virtual serial Port".
“Port”
must match with
the port setting of the
P4
dragon
’s SER2NET configuration. Default is 3000, it can be left as it
