To operate the overboard discharge pump, make
sure the thru-hull valve is open and turn the key
switch in the Holding Tank Overboard Discharge
lockout switch panel to the “Discharge” position.
Turn the key switch and the thru-hull valve OFF
and remove the key when pumping is complete.
Make sure to store the key in a safe place.
Notice:
Monitor the waste level in the holding tank
as the overboard discharge drains the tank
and turn the pump off immediately when
draining is complete.
Notice:
In order to comply with current State, Fed-
eral and Coast Guard regulations, the Over-
board Discharge lockout key switch must be
off and the key removed whenever the boat
is operating in areas in which the discharge
of sewage is prohibited.
Notice:
In many areas it is illegal to flush head waste
directly overboard. Violation of these pollu-
tion laws can result in fines or imprisonment.
Always know the law for the areas in which
you boat. Never dump head or holding tank
waste overboard illegally.
Maintenance
The head should be cleaned and inspected for
leaks regularly.
The holding tank should be pumped out and
flushed as needed. Always add chemical to the
holding tank to help control odor and to chemically
break down the waste. See the head manufac-
turer owner’s manual for additional operating and
maintenance information.
Important:
The head system must be properly winter-
ized before winter lay-up. Please refer to
the Seasonal Maintenance chapter and the
manufacturer owner’s manual for winter-
izing instructions.
10.2 Cabin and V-Berth
Cabin Lights
The cabin lights are controlled by switches in the
light bases. All lights in the cabin are powered
by the DC electrical system. The light circuits are
protected by the Cabin Lights circuit breaker in
the accessory circuit breaker panel in the helm.
Galley and Sink
The galley is equipped with a fresh water sink and
counter top. Water is supplied to the sink by a
12-volt pump protected by the Freshwater Pump
circuit breaker in the accessory circuit breaker
panel. It is located in the forward bilge compart-
ment and accessed through a removable access
plate in the forward cabin bulkhead. When acti-
vated, the water system will operate much like the
water system in a home. An automatic pressure
sensor keeps the system pressurized. The sink
drains overboard through a fitting in the hull side.
See the Fresh Water System chapter for more in-
formation on operating the fresh water system.
Daylight and fresh air is provided to this area by
an opening port window and the cabin door. The
window is equipped with a removable screen.
