thoroughly after each use. Vertical rod storage
is located on each side of the cooler.
Windshield
The 221 Winyah is equipped with a tinted acrylic
windshield mounted to the front of the center
console. Acrylic glass scratches easily. Never use
a dry cloth or glass cleaning solutions on acrylic.
Use a soft cloth and mild soap and water for rou-
tine cleaning. Solvents and products containing
ammonia can permanently damage acrylic. Please
refer to the Routine Maintenance chapter for more
information on the proper care and maintenance
of acrylic plastic glass.
Aluminum Leaning Post
The leaning post is made of welded anodized or
powder coated aluminum. It is equipped with rod
holders and a grab bar. The base accommodates
a large cooler. Grab rails on the rear provide a
handhold for passengers. An optional removable
backrest that mounts in the rod holders is an
available option for the leaning post.
An optional performance leaning post with built
in backrests is available as optional equipment.
9.5 251 XS Cockpit Features
Forward Storage Compartment and
Rod Lockers
Storage Compartment
The vertical center hatch provides access to the
forward storage compartment located just aft of
the anchor locker. Optional seat cushions are
secured to the deck above the storage compart-
ment and to the rod locker hatches on each side
of the bow.
The storage compartment drains by gravity to the
bilge. Always make sure the hatch is closed and
secure before operating the boat.
Rod Lockers
There are rod storage lockers located below lock-
able hatches in the gunnels on either side of the
cockpit near the bow. A gas spring holds the hatch
open and a twist lock latch secures it in the closed
position. The lockers drain by gravity to the bilge.
The rod racks are equipped with stretch cords to
secure the rods. Always make sure the rods are
properly secured to the racks with the rod tips
forward.
251 XS Rod Locker
Optional 251 XS Bow Cushions
The rod locker hatches are secured with special
locking, flush mounted, twist lock latches with
handles that store flush in the latch. The latch
handles can be stored flush in either the open or
secured positions. There is a large red dot in the
handle that indicates that the latch is in the open
position and the hatch is not secure. Always make
sure these hatches are closed with the latches in
the secured position before operating the boat
above idle speed.
