ENGINE/FUSELAGE FIRE, OR FIRE OF UNDETERMINED
ORIGIN, IN FLIGHT - LOW/CRUISE ALTITUDE
Note: If a fire is observed during flight, prevailing conditions such
as day/night, altitude, and available landing areas must be
considered in order to determine whether to execute a power-on or
power-off landing.
Power-on landing:
Maintain airspeed and rotor RPM; be prepared to perform a full
autorotation at any point in the approach.
Immediately perform power-on landing to suitable area.
If time permits:
Set battery switch in OFF position.
Set generator switch in OFF position.
Upon landing:
Close throttle.
Set fuel shutoff valve in CLOSED position.
Exit aircraft with fire extinguisher.
Power-off landing:
Close throttle.
Immediately enter autorotation.
If time permits:
Set fuel shutoff valve in CLOSED position.
Set battery switch in OFF position.
Set generator switch in OFF position.
