2.8 Personal Protective Equipment
To avoid injury, always use appropriate protective equipment that is suitable for the situation. The protec-
tive equipment must meet the following standards:
•
Protective work shoes in safety class S1 or higher
•
Sturdy work gloves in safety category 2133 or higher
•
Industrial helmet
•
Ear protection class L or higher
•
Eye protection class F
•
Hair net
•
Closely fitting clothing
2.9 Safety Features
The tube lifter Jumbo has the following safety features:
•
The non-return valve in the rotary union causes the tube lifter to be lowered slowly when the vac-
uum supply fails.
•
The load can only be released via two-hand operation.
1. Before each start of operations, ensure that the safety features are in perfect condition.
2. Safety features must not be disabled under any circumstances.
2.10 Technical Condition
Safety and functionality are impaired if the product is operated in defective condition.
1. The product must only be operated when in perfect technical working order – i.e., in its original con-
dition.
2. Follow the maintenance schedule.
3. Only use original spare parts.
4. If the operating behavior should change, check the product for faults. Rectify faults immediately.
5. Unauthorized conversion or modification of the product is prohibited.
6. Under no circumstances must safety features be disabled.

2.11 Operator Responsibility
The operator is also responsible for third parties in the working area of the tube lifter. The operating
company must ensure that they have the appropriate qualifications and skills.
1. Ensure that the tube lifter cannot be used during maintenance or repair work.
2. The responsibilities for the various activities performed on the tube lifter must be clearly defined.
3. Ensure that these responsibilities are adhered to.
4. When handling unfamiliar loads, carry out tests where necessary to ensure safe operation:

The load is sufficiently rigid that it cannot be damaged during handling.
2.12 Country-Specific Regulations for the Operator
1. Observe the country-specific regulations regarding accident prevention, safety testing and environ-
mental protection.
2. Only use the tube lifter once you have verified that the crane system employed complies with the
country-specific rules and safety regulations.
