Using both DHCP and a fixed IP
simultaneously
Using the
Alternate Configuration
providing by Windows
XP, you can set both automatic and fixed IP addresses
and then you can select to use either of them to connect
to the Internet.

Click
Start > Control Panel > Network and Internet
Connections > Network Connection > Local Area
Connection
by using the right button of the touch
pad and click
Properties
.

Select
Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
and click
Properties
.

Select the
Alternate Configuration
tab, select
User
configured
and fill in the fields.

When the setting completes, click
OK
.
