capacity. This situation is prevented by “Dynamic AC Input Current Diversion Control between AC Pass through Current
and Battery Charging Current”. This is accomplished through appropriate setting of programmable parameters “GRID
MAX CURRENT”. Optional Remote Control Model EVO-RC-PLUS will be required for the above setting
[Please refer to
Section 4.5.2.2 of the EVO-RC-PLUS Remote Control Manual]
.
“GRID MAX CURRENT” (
Default = 30A
) should be set equal to the Ampere rating of the external AC input supply
breakers. During Battery Charging Mode, if the AC pass through load current is increased resulting in the net AC input
current increasing by 1A more than the programmed “GRID MAX CURRENT” for 1 sec, the
EVO
™
will automatically
reduce the charging current to ensure that the equivalent AC Side Charging C Pass Through Load
Current is not more than the set value of “GRID MAX".
i
INFO
As explained, if the net AC input current is 1A more than the value of GRID MAX CURRENT for 1 sec, the
AC side charging current is clawed back to ensure that GRID MAX CURRENT value is not exceeded. If the
value of pass through load current increases to a value of 1A more than the programmed value of GRID
MAX CURRENT for 5 sec, input over current protection will be activated based on option to either transfer
to Inverting Mode or to shut down in FAULT MODE
[Refer to details of these 2 options under parameter
“INPUT OC PROTECT” at Section 4.5.2.11 in the EVO-RC-PLUS Owner’s Manual]
EXAMPLE:
(
Based on 120/240VAC Split Phase Input
)
1) Assume EVO-4248SP is connected to the 120/240VAC Split Phase Grid input with Grid input supply circuit
breaker capacity of 30A. Parameter settings are as follows:
a) “GRID MAX CURRENT” setting =
say, 10A
.
b) “BULK CURRENT” setting =
say, 10ADC
. Based on Conversion Factor of 1A DC charging current =
0.292 AAC Line Current on 240VAC input
(1(c) below)
, 10A DC charging current will consume Line
Current of 2.92 AAC from 240VAC AC input.
c) As per the specifications for the Battery Charger Section (
Section 7
), AC side Line Current at 240 VAC
input is 17.5A when charging at the rated DC side charging current of 60 ADC. Hence, 1A DC side
charging current will consume 0.292A Line Current from tthe 240 VAC input.
2) Assume that the AC pass-through Line Current is 5A. The total AC input Line Current will be 7.92A i.e. 5A
AC pass-through Line C 2.92A AC input side Line Current corresponding to 10A DC side charging
current
[see 1(b)]
. Under this condition, the EVO™ will operate normally because the net AC input Line
Current of 7.92A will be below 10A setting for parameter “GRID MAX CURRENT”
3) If now, the AC pass-through Line Current is increased from 5A to 9A for more than 5 sec, the total AC
input Line Current will be 11.92A i.e. 9A pass through Line C 2.92A AC side charging Line Current
corresponding to 10A DC side charging current
[see 1(b)]
. As the total AC input current will be 1.92A
more than the “GRID MAX CURRENT” for more than 1 sec, the AC input side charging current will be
clawed back from 2.92AAC to 1AAC within less than 5 sec so that the total AC input current is limited
to 10A. At reduced AC side charging current of 1A, the corresponding DC side charging current will be
clawed back from 10ADC to 3.42ADC
[Based on Conversion Factor of 1A DC side charging current =
0.292A AC side charging current - See 1(c)].
