Position Locking
Clip
Position locking clip
about 2.5 cm (1 in.)
from vehicle belt’s
latch plate.
Rebuckle vehicle belt.
3.
Attach Locking Clip
Thread both portions
of the vehicle belt onto
the locking clip, as
close to the latch plate
as possible.
2.
Locate Locking Clip
Location
Grasp the vehicle lap/
shoulder belts together
tightly as close to the
vehicle latch plate as
possible. While holding
the belts tightly,
unbuckle.
NOTE:
If the latch plate ends up just at the belt path
opening so you cannot grasp the vehicle belt at the
latch plate, grasp the vehicle belts on the opposite side
of the infant restraint, as close to the latch plate as
possible.
2.5 cm
(1 in.)
You will rarely need to use a locking clip except in
some older vehicles.
A locking clip is used to prevent the vehicle belt from
loosening before a sudden stop or crash.
The locking
clip can only be used on a lap and shoulder belt
combination.
A locking clip will not fix all types of vehicle
seat belt problems.
Review section D-4 and your
vehicle’s owner manual for vehicle seat belt use
with infant restraints to see if a locking clip is
needed.
If you need a locking clip, purchase one from
your retailer or call us at 1-800-544-1108 to order one.
Locking clips from any infant restraint manufacturer
are okay to use.
