F. Install Shell with Vehicle Belts
2.
Check Level to Ground
Line
Make sure the level to
ground line on the side of
the infant restraint is level
with the ground.
NOTE:
You may need
to place a tightly rolled
towel(s) or foam pool
noodle(s) under the front of
the base to achieve correct
recline angle.
Check often to be sure
padding is still in place, the
level to ground line is still
level and the belt is tight.
Thread Vehicle Belt
Thread vehicle lap belt or
lap belt portion of the lap
and shoulder belt through
the vehicle belt path (as
shown). Buckle the vehicle
belt.
With an ALR belt, pull the
belt all the way out before
threading.
With a switchable retractor, pull the shoulder belt all the
way out to switch the retractor into the ALR mode before
tightening.

Recheck Level to
Ground Line
Make sure the level
to ground line on
the side of the infant
restraint is level with
the ground. Repeat
steps 1 through 5 if
not level.
6.
Check Vehicle Belt
Tightness
Grasp the shell at
the vehicle belt path
with one hand. Push
and pull the shell
from side to side,
forward and back.
The shell at the vehicle belt path should not move more
than 2.5 cm (1 in.) and the vehicle belt should not
loosen.
NOTE:
If it moves more than 2.5 cm (1 in.) or if the
vehicle belt loosens, try reinstalling the infant restraint
or try another seating location. Check your vehicle
owner’s manual, review the locking clip installation
(section D-5) or call DJG Consumer Relations for help.
Tighten Vehicle
Belt
Lay your forearm
across infant restraint
at the vehicle belt
path, push down
FIRMLY
on the infant
restraint while pulling
up on vehicle’s shoulder belt to tighten.
With a switchable retractor, feed the shoulder belt back
into the retractor while tightening.
