GUIDELINES FOR OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE

3.5.2.1

Risks deriving from high temperatures

ACCESS INSIDE THE EXTRUDER GUARDS
Temperatures inside the extruder guards can reach up to 280

°

C. Never touch any surfaces where there is a warning

sign indicating the danger of being burnt.
When the machine stops because of an emergency, it may be necessary to open the guards in order to make checks
or performing cleaning operations.

 WARNING!

When maintenance or repairs are to be carried out on the extruder after it has reached the operating temperature,
always take adequate safety precautions to avoid being burnt (use gloves, tongs etc.)

HOT MATERIAL LEAVING THE EXTRUDER, RISK OF BEING BURNT
Either wait until the material has cooled down or be sure to take the proper safety precautions (use pick-up tools, gloves
etc.)

3.6

WHAT TO DO WHEN THE MACHINE IS NO LONGER USED

3.6.1

GENERAL

When the machine is no longer to be used, make it inoperative by shutting off the electricity and air supplies etc.
Use suitable safety devices.
Thoroughly clean the entire machine, especially the working parts, and if necessary apply a protective lubricant.
Close the door of the electrical cabinet and any machine access doors to prevent any parts being tampered with or
dust getting in.
Follow the instructions given in Chapter 9 - DECOMMISSIONING and observe current standards in force and safety
regulations regarding lifting and handling the machine and its parts.
