Testing the System
Once the cables have been connected as shown in Figure 4 or 5 and a power-good check has been
performed, prepare to apply power and turn on the Thermal FFV™. This is best accomplished on a
benchtop prior to field installation.
Calibration of the Thermal FFV™
The Thermal FFV™ automatically calibrates during power on. The RVision logo will appear, and after
several seconds the internal shutter will operate and the thermal video will appear. Periodically the
shutter will auto-calibrate the internal sensor, which will cause a slight pause in the video stream.
Note that below 0°C, heaters in the system will engage to warm the system.
Video Source
Confirm that the thermal video is present. The thermal camera video should be visible in several
seconds after startup.
System Control
Establish control of the system using pSEE™ or a LOOK 6.5™ controller. Refer to the LOOK 6.5™ or
pSEE™ section of this manual for specific instructions in the use of these components.
The Thermal FFV™ has a fixed lens, with fixed focus that should provide focused imagery from
approximately three feet out to infinity. No adjustment of the focus is possible or required. While
the lens is fixed, the zoom functionality of the camera provides smooth digital zoom through digital
scaling up of the imagery. While no details are introduced using this process, the larger image may
permit small details to be seen more clearly by the operator, especially on smaller display screen
such as the LOOK 6.5™. Not that when digital zoom is used, some of the imagery is cropped out of
frame. This means that the picture on-screen will not be the full sensor resolution and may appear
more blurry than when the camera is zoomed out.
