SECTION 7: AIR SUPPLY
7.1 Room Sealed Installation
When installed as a room sealed heater, the air for
comb
u stion is dra w n in from o u tside the b u ilding. It
is important to ens u re that there is adeq u ate
v entilation to pro v ide air for the distrib u tion fan/s.
7.2 Open Flued Installation
It is important to ens u re that there is adeq u ate air
s u pply at all times for both comb u stion and heating
req u irements in accordance w ith local and national
codes. When installed in this mode, the air s u pply to
the heater m u st also be fitted w ith a lo w resistance
terminal to pre v ent the ingress of debris. See Page
15, Figure 3

7.2.1 Heaters Installed Within the Heated Space
Where the v ol u me of the heated space is greater
than 4.7 m 3 per kilo w att of total rated heat inp u t and
the air change rate is at least 0.5/h, additional high
and lo
w le v el v entilation w ill not be req u ired.
For a b u ilding ha v ing an air change rate less than
0.5/h, v entilation w ill be necessary in accordance
w ith local and national codes. Ventilation direct to
o u tside m u st be pro v ided as follo w s:
• Heaters u p to 70 kW heat inp u t: 5.0 cm

7.3 Buildin g Ventilation
Where v entilation is req u ired, air m u st be taken from
an o u tside point w here it is not likely to be
contaminated or obstr u cted.
Where nat u ral v entilation is u sed, s u itable v entilation
w ith o u tside air at lo w le v el m u st be pro v ided in
accordance w ith Section 7.2.1 and local and national
codes.
Where mechanical v entilation is u sed, extract rate
m u st be 5% - 10% less than the inlet rate. The
mechanical v entilation m u st be interlocked w ith the
b u rner on the heater.
7.4 Isolated E q uipment Rooms
Ventilation m u st pre v ent the isolated eq u ipment
room temperat u re from exceeding 32° C as w ell as
pre v ent any negati v e air press u re w ithin the room.
Any isolated eq u ipment room containing air heaters
w ill req u ire permanent air v ents direct to o u tside air
in compliance w ith local codes.
Where nat u ral v entilation is u sed, s u itable
permanent openings at lo w and high le v el,
comm u nicating directly w ith the o u tside air, m u st be
pro v ided.
Where mechanical v entilation is u sed, extract rate
m u st be 5% - 10% less than the inlet rate. The
mechanical v entilation m u st be interlocked w ith the
b u rner on the heater.
