SETTING THE PARAMETERS
Setting the charge current
Use the ‘SELECT’ button to leaf through in the
menu until the menu point ‘SET CHA.’ appears.
Set the charge current in this menu using the ‘INC
/ DEC’ buttons. The charge current can be increa-
sed or reduced in variable increments (according
to the set value).
Please be sure to observe the information supplied
by the battery manufacturer. The charge power is
limited by the system’s capacity; the processor
automatically reduces the charge current if neces-
sary to avoid overloading the charger.
The software features a special integral function which automatically adjusts the charge
current according to the voltage level of the power source (car battery). The advantage of
this feature is that the unit continues to charge even when the car battery’s voltage is
declining, i.e. it avoids a low-voltage termination. This reduces the load on the voltage
converter, and the charger works with better efficiency.
How it works:
If the input voltage falls below 11 Volts, the set charge current is reduced
by 1 A. This may occur several times until the charge current falls to only 1 Amp. It is not
possible to increase the reduced charge current again. The only means of resetting this
function is to disconnect the charger from the power source.
Setting the discharge current
Use the ‘SELECT’ button to leaf through in the
menu until the menu point ‘SET DIS.’ appears. Set
the discharge current in this menu using the ‘INC /
DEC’ buttons. The discharge current can be
increased or reduced in variable increments
(according to the set value). Please be sure to
observe the information supplied by the battery
manufacturer. The discharge power is limited by
the system’s capacity; the processor automatical-
ly reduces the discharge current if necessary to
avoid overloading the charger.
Note:
The charge or discharge current can also be varied during the charge or discharge pro-
cess.
Selecting the battery type
Move to the menu point ‘NiCd BATTERY / NiMH BATTERY / Li-BAT’ using the ‘SELECT’
button. Select the appropriate battery type using the ‘INC / DEC’ buttons.
