6. USER INSTRUCTIONS
6.1 Usage - Conditions and starting points
The conditions and starting points that follow are applicable when you use the RB50Eᵖˡᵘˢ.
Delay time
Limits duty cycle RB50Eᵖˡᵘˢ tube motor
The duty cycle of the RB50Eᵖˡᵘˢ tube motor has limits. In operation the powerful motor, in the small
housing, causes much heat. Make sure that the relation between running time and rest time is
satisfactory to let the temperature of the tube motor decrease sufficiently. The maximum running
time is shown in minutes as kb (Kurzbetrieb). The maximum running time (kb) is calculated at an
ambient temperature of 20°C. The kb-value of the RB50Eᵖˡᵘˢ tube motor is 10 minutes. The period at
which the temperature decreases sufficiently must be approximately 15 times the running time.
Effects on an RB50Eᵖˡᵘˢ tube motor in a roller screen
A tube motor in a roller screen generally operates in the conditions that follow. These have an effect
on the running times and rest times.
•
The ambient temperature is generally more than 20°C. This makes the kb-value decrease. The kb-
value decreases more if the ambient temperature becomes higher.
•
The screen cloth isolates the tube of the motor. Because of this more time is necessary to let the
temperature of the tube motor decrease to the ambient temperature.
•
If the tube motor is continuously started and stopped, for short periods, this will cause more
heat. The maximum duty cycle will decrease and more time is necessary to let the temperature of
the tube motor decrease to the ambient temperature.
Thermal protection
The electric motor of the RB50Eᵖˡᵘˢ tube motor has a thermal protection. If the motor temperature
becomes higher than 120 °C the system stops.
The causes that follow are possible:
•
Running time too long
•
Time too short to let the temperature decrease (tube motor at rest position)
•
Started and stopped for short periods too many times
• An overload.
The delay time must be approximately 0.5 seconds when you change
the direction-of-rotation. The electric motor must stop.
This prevents that it continues in the initial direction.
The motor can start and stop automatically without a warning but
will stay energized! De-energize the system before the work starts!
The temperature of the motor can become more than 120 °C. If
necessary take protective precautions to prevent injuries!
If the maximum duty cycle is ignored this can cause malfunctions.
Because of this the tube motor can become defective.
