To control the quadcopter with your smartphone and in-app controls, follow the steps below:
• Switch the quadcopter on. The LEDs flash The model now emits a WiFi transmission signal.
•
Switch on your smartphone. Under "Settings/WiFi", connect the "WIFI-720-GPS-xxxxx" signal to your smartphone.
•
Start the app for the quadcopter on your smartphone.
•
In the app, select the "START" button. The app controls and the video image of the model's built-in camera will
appear on the display (see also Figure 16).
•
Place the quadcopter at a suitable starting point. Please also keep in mind all instructions from chapters 11 and 12.
Wait until the quadcopter LEDs glow steadily. If this is the case, then the smartphone is paired with the model and
the electronics have a secure GPS reception.
•
Tap the icon shown in Figure 19, no. 16 to show the app controls.
•
Then select the icon shown in Figure 19, no. 18 ("open lock"). The display will ask you if you really want to "unlock"
(which means start). Confirm with "yes". The rotors will start to rotate. The icon will change to "closed lock" and will
be highlighted in colour. The quadcopter is now ready to start.
•
The two controls (dots in the middle, see Figure 19, nos. A and B) on the smartphone display represent the controls
of a remote control transmitter and can also be operated in the same way. Keep your smartphone in your hands.
Touch each dot with one finger (preferably with your thumbs) and steer the model as explained in chapters 11 and
12.
•
To start, press "Auto start" shown in Figure 19, no. 19. The model will then lift off automatically and hover approx.
one metre in front of you. If you want to land the model again, slowly pull the left-hand control (Figure 19, no. A)
backwards.
You can also initiate the landing process by reselecting the icon shown in Figure 19, no. 19.
Alternatively, an automatic landing can be initiated at the starting point by selecting the icon shown in Figure 19, no.
17. In this case, the model will first take a safe altitude and then return straight to the starting point. As soon as the
starting point is reached (deviations of 1 – 2 metres are normal), the landing process will be initiated automatically
and then the rotors will turn off.
In flight operation with the controls shown on the smartphone display, the video image is at least partially
hidden. For this reason, FPV operation of the model is not advisable.
Basically, images and videos can also be captured when operating the model with the smartphone.
No operation in "Headless" mode is provided if the quadcopter is operated solely with the smartphone.
