c) Programming Operating Mode of the Speed Controller (Normal or Crawler
Mode)
The installed speed controller is used in conventional vehicles as well as in crawler vehicles.
"Crawler" vehicles usually are special, slow vehicles for agility exercises. The gear of this kind of vehicle
has a strong gear reduction, so that only low speeds are possible even at full throttle.
After switching on the speed controller, the red LED shows the current mode.
The red LED flashes: Normal mode (basic setting, optimal for the vehicle)
Red LED lit:
Crawler mode (should not be used for the vehicle)
Normal mode:
Here, the speed controller offers the functions forward, brake and reverse. The brake function works as described in
chapter 9. i) when the throttle/brake lever at the transmitter is directly pushed without pause from forward to reverse.
If the lever is put in from forward driving to the neutral position, the vehicle will roll to a stop (without brake).
Crawler mode:
Here, the brake works when the throttle/brake lever at the transmitter is put in the neutral position. This is best for
crawler vehicles to facilitate, very slow driving, e.g. on a slope.
For activating the normal mode, proceed as follows:
•
Switch on the speed controller and wait until the sound signals for the function of the undervoltage recognition have
been issued and the vehicle is ready for operation.
•
Keep the button at the speed controller pushed.
• When the motor emits a brief sound signal ("•"), the normal mode is activated. Release the button at once.
• The red LED at the speed controller flashes (normal mode - optimal for the vehicle).
For activating the crawler mode, proceed as follows:
•
Switch on the speed controller and wait until the sound signals for the function of the undervoltage recognition have
been issued and the vehicle is ready for operation.
•
Keep the button pushed.
• When the motor emits two brief sound signals ("• •"), the crawler mode is activated. Release the button at once.
•
The red LED at the speed controller is permanently lit (crawler mode - not recommended for the vehicle).
