in your chimney depends on the length of the chimney, local geography, nearby obstructions, and other factors. Too much draft
may cause excessive temperatures in the appliance;
inadequate draft may cause backpuffing into the room and
"plugging" of the chimney. Inadequate draft will case the appliance to leak smoke into the room through the
appliance and chimney connector joints. An uncontrollable burn or a glowing red stove part or chimney connector
indicates excessive draft.
E. The Ash Tidy
E.1 Description.
The ash-tidy is designed to make ash removal easy, safe, and clean. It is constructed with an inner scoop-
pan and the outer sealing container. It is made of sheet steel to provide durability while being light enough
for convenient use.
E.2 Preparing for Use.
The inner scoop-pan should slide freely within the outer sealing container. Sometimes, during packing and
shipment, components become slightly twisted. If this is the case, the scoop-pan may bind. Generally, the unit
can easily be reshaped by twisting the appropriate parts in the opposite direction. A light coat of silicone
spray or WD-40 will help leaser a sticking scoop-pan until the unit is "broken-in"
