SETTING THE DIALING
MODE
Set
TONE/PULSE
on the handset for the
type of service you have. If you are not
sure which type of service you have, fol-
low these steps.
1. Press
LINE 1
.
2. Lift the handset and be sure
TONE/
PULSE
is set to
TONE
.
3. Listen for a dial tone.
4. Press any number other than
0
.
Note: If your phone system requires
that you dial an access code (
9
, for
example) before you dial an outside
number, do not press the access
code either.
If the dial tone stops, that line has
tone service.
If the dial tone continues, that line
has pulse service.
5. Press
LINE 2
, then repeat Steps 3
and 4.
6. If you have pulse service on either
line, set
TONE/PULSE
to
PULSE
. If
you have touch-tone service on both
lines, leave
TONE/PULSE
set to
TONE
.
SETTING THE RINGER
HI/LO/OFF SWITCH
Set the volume for each line’s ringer. Set
HI/LO/OFF
to
HI
in a noisy room, such as
the kitchen. Set
HI/LO/OFF
to
LO
in a
quiet room, such as a bedroom.
If you do not want a ringer to sound at
all, set
HI/LO/OFF
to
OFF
. You can still
answer the phone if you hear an exten-
sion phone ringing, and you can still
make calls.
