Finding and Restoring
Multiple Files and Folders
3
Before beginning a restore operation, save all open files and close all
running applications except the GoVault data protection software.
To find and restore multiple files and folders:
1
Select the date of the successful backup operation that you want to
restore from in the calendar display on the
Explore
page (see
figure 38
on page 49).
The GoVault data protection software displays each successful
backup operation that was completed on the selected date, according
to the protection plan that produced it, with an indication of the
archive time and status of the backup (see
figure 41
).
Select the protection plan that produced the backup operation you
want to restore from to activate the
Explore
and
Restore
command
buttons.
2
Click the
Explore
command button to display the GoVault data
protection software explore archive window (see
figure 43
on
page 54).
(Clicking the
Restore
command button would initiate a point-in-time
restore operation, as described in
Restoring to a Particular Point in
Time
on page 54.)
3
Like Windows
Explorer
, the GoVault data protection software
explore archive window presents the files from the selected backup
operation in a hierarchical file structure display.
Caution:
Attempting to restore a file that is open can cause data loss
or corruption. Always save all open files and close all
running applications before beginning a restore operation.
Note:
If the backup you want to restore from is on a different
GoVault cartridge, the Status indication will be Offline.
Instead of activating the
Explore
and
Restore
command
buttons, the GoVault data protection software displays a
message indicating the required cartridge (see
figure 42
).
In this case, eject the current cartridge from the GoVault
dock, insert the required cartridge, and repeat the explore
operation.
