Exercise instructions
The correct positioning of the patient in the starting position contributes greatly to the quality and effectiveness
of the exercise.
The machines are used to train the exercises in a sitting position. The back, in particular the lumbar spinal col-
umn, is to be actively stabilised during the exercise execution by an upright sitting position.
The movement on the Itensic abductor and adductor is performed on one side. To change the training side, the
trainee climbs on to the machine on the other side.
By means of leg and pelvic cushions the machine can be adapted individually to the anatomical requirements of
the trainee.
The training position decided on by the therapist or trainer can be reproduced later for independent training,
because all adjusting devices are fitted with a scale and numbered.
The load control is performed by adjusting the training angle. The load dosing is to be selected in such a way
that the patient/trainee can carry out the training without evasive movements. A fine adjustment to the weight
can be set using the auxiliary weights (optional).
For details on load dosing, please refer to chapter
General training recommendations
In order to prepare the corresponding musculature of the patient for the load, we recommend the warming up
e.g. on a bicycle ergometer with subsequent exercise before the start of the training program
With limited mobility or pain, training should only be performed where possible in the painless range. If there is
any discomfort the exercises should be stopped immediately and if necessary, a doctor consulted.
We recommend carrying out the movement in a slow and controlled manner. Make sure that the movement is
correct. The load intensity at the start of training should be deliberately selected to be easy. The load is then in-
creased gradually, to avoid excessive loads, which can lead to problems and pain with patients/trainees.
The weight can be moved explosively, with quick powerful movements, but only with persons that can be corre-
spondingly loaded. A controlled motion control must also be guaranteed with this training method to avoid
stress and injuries. As a rule, concentric and eccentric modes of operation of the muscles should be combined.
Different training methods are applied. If the repetitive training method is used, several training series are carried
out with corresponding pauses. The training intensity is based on the carrying capacity of the injured structure,
the rehabilitation phase of the patient, and the training goals.
Here priority can be given to the adaptation and habituation of the injured structure (connective tissue, cartilage,
tendons, ligaments, and joint capsule) to training with a load with low intensity, before the training of special
power capabilities - such as stamina training or maximum power - with increasing intensity.
